DescriptionWATAUGA COUNTY POSITION OPENING Watauga County Soil and Water Conservation Department is accepting applications for the position of Conservation Technician. Position is responsible for providing soil and water conservation, technical services and education; administers the North Carolina Agricultural Cost Share Program; maintains records and files; prepares various reports; analyzes problems, determines needs and develops specific plans for applicable conservation practices. Provides technical assistance to local farm owners and land users based on the determination of their conservation needs; and oversees the planning, design, installation, implementation and maintenance of conservation practices provided to farmers through State cost share funds. Associate Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources/ Conservation, Forestry or related field with some experience in agriculture, soil and water conservation or any combination of education and experience which provides the required skills is required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Salary Grade 8, $54,034. County benefit package includes health insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
